Beauty Tip Friday: How to Condition Your Hair

You spend your money on great conditioners and hair care products you trust will make your tresses gleam with health. But are you using them properly???

When shampooing your hair, it’s best to pour the liquid into your hands, then apply to the scalp area first, allowing the bubbles to cleanse the ends of your hair as you rinse. This way, the detergents in the shampoo go where you want them: to the oiliest areas of your hair. This also spares your ends from getting too much of those detergents, which could make already-fragile ends even more susceptible to breakage.

When conditioning, the opposite is true. Apply product to the ends of your hair first (where hair is older and needs the most moisture) and work your way up only to about the middle of your head. There’s no need to condition up near the scalp (unless you’re applying a deep conditioner directly after a home-coloring). Too much moisture up near the scalp can weigh hair down and/or make it oily. Concentrate your efforts on the ends to get the most benefit.

And of course, don’t forget regular trims. ;)

Hope this helps makes your tresses even more gorgeous. Have a great weekend!
