Top Five (Surprising!) Fall Color Trends
Here we are, knee deep in Fall already. Can you even believe that gone are the days of summer camp and sleeping late? Ugh. Well, at least we have something good to look forward to: NEW FALL COLORS!
I gotta say that some of these were a little surprising, while others are old stand-bys that our lives would be empty without. Well here, take a look for yourself:
#5 - Orange
Orange Lipstick from Paul & Joe, $18
Orange on a day other than Halloween? Really? Yep, you betcha. Orange is hot on anything from lips to cheeks to nails this season. And when you’re dragging booty in the morning, orangey-citrusy scents are the perfect pick-me-up. Give it a shot and watch yourself perk right up.
#4 - Purple
Purple Shadow from Urban Decay, $16
Did you know that the color purple projects the image of royalty? Okay, so you may not be the next Mrs. Prince William a la Kate Middleton, but you can still look like the Queen of Style. A little purple is all it takes. Try purple around the eyes for a very sophisticated look. Or use a dark plum on your lips. Whatever your coloring, you’re sure to find a purple to complement you and make you feel like a million tiaras.
#3 - Black
Black Nail Polish by Sephora, $4
Another spooky color, you say? Puh-leeze. Black is everywhere, chicks - even on guys! Of course, you can take the safe route and rim those eyes with black or get a little crazy with the cat eye look. Black is super mod on short, rounded nails and is hands-down my favorite mascara shade. Black is where it’s at and it’s showing no sign of stopping. Go ahead and spring for the $4 polish - I bet your Code Red Dew you’ll love it.
#2 - Gold
Gold Shadow, Glitter All Over by Sephora, now only $2.50!
Goldilocks, step aside. Now gold is for much more than your hair. This is truly one of the most versatile colors around and it is the complexion brightener to beat them all. A word of warning: A little bit definitely goes a long way here, so do NOT let me hear about you glamming up your eyes with gold and then schlacking on a gold gloss besides. Nuh-uh, no way! One or the other, please. If you’re having a really bad skin day, might I suggest dabbing some on the apples of your cheeks to wake up your look? Just a thought. I know I’ve done it (like yesterday. Sigh.)

#1 - Red!
Red Lipstick, Clinique Long Last Soft Shine in Red Red Red, $14
So duh, like this wasn’t obvious. Red is and always will be THE greatest color ev-ah! Red lips, red nails, red accessories. On blondes, on brunettes, on redheads - the color works everywhere for everyone. Just make sure you grab the shade that is right for you. Paler skin tones should stick with reds that have a blue/purple undertone and warmer skin tones should reach for a more orangey or bricky red.
